Want a Beach Body? Eat Burgers!

It may be mid-June, but it’s not too late to work on that beach body!  Start eating healthier and exercising now, and you can see a definite difference by the end of summer, and you’ll get a fantastic head start for next bikini season!

And there’s more good news: healthy eating doesn’t mean cutting out all the foods you like.  You can still have hamburgers and french fries when you turn them into healthier alternatives.  Instead of greasy, deep-fried potatoes, try cutting a potato, sweet potato, rutabaga, carrot, or just about any root veggie into thin strips, seasoning, and baking.  As for the hamburger, ground turkey breast has three-quarters the calories of ground beef, and half the fat.  But some people avoid ground poultry because they don’t think it’s as flavorful as its beefy counterpart.  Mixing ground poultry with the right blend of condiments and spices will pack a flavorful punch, just as it does with ground beef.

While you’re on your way to better health this summer, grill up a batch of our Beach Body Turkey Burgers.  At under 150 calories per serving, these burgers are lean and mean, just like your beach body will be!

BEACH BODY TURKEY BURGERS

INGREDIENTS:

2 pounds ground turkey breast

1/2 cup onion, diced with Kyocera’s Santoku knife

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

3 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 clove garlic, minced with Kyocera’s Santoku knife

1 tsp lemon pepper

1/2 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp pepper

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat grill or broiler.

In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until thoroughly incorporated.  Be careful not to over-mix, or the burgers will be tough.  Form meat mixture into 8 patties.  Cook the patties on the grill or broiler, approximately 5 minutes per side, or until the center is no longer pink.
