Hot Tea, Home Style!

As the latest bout of winter weather hits the news and keeps southeastern U.S. residents snug in their homes, many of us are thinking of ways to cozy up and beat the winter chill.

In Kyocera’s last blog, we introduced you to new ways to curl up with a bowl of stomach-warming oatmeal, courtesy of National Oatmeal Month.  But did you know January is also National Hot Tea Month?  This is for good reason—there’s no better time to enjoy a soothing cup of tea than on a cold winter day after the holiday rush.

You don’t need to brave the snow to hit up Starbucks or even the supermarket, because you can brew delicious tea using fresh ingredients at home.  Try this recipe for ginger tea, which tastes great and aids digestion.

HOMEMADE GINGER TEA

INGREDIENTS:

Raw ginger root
2 cups water
1/2 lime, juiced
2 tbsp honey

DIRECTIONS:

Peel ginger with the Kyocera Perfect Peeler.  With the Kyocera chef’s knife, thinly slice ginger into 6 strips.

In the water, boil the ginger at least 10 minutes.  The longer the ginger boils, the stronger the tea will be.  More ginger slices may also be used for stronger flavor.

Remove tea from heat and strain out the ginger slices.  Stir in lime juice and honey to taste.  Drink warm.
